Trainee Recruitment Consultant

Starting your recruitment career at Prospectus

Our Trainee Consultant scheme is an opportunity for you to start your career in recruitment in a supportive environment working alongside some of the best recruiters there are. You’ll get fantastic exposure to the huge array of organisations that make up the beyond profit sector and will quickly understand the impact you can make, both for the people you support into roles and the organisations that you find them work in.

No previous experience of recruitment is necessary, just a real interest in learning and a desire to make an impact.

We offer two types of trainee scheme, inhouse and apprenticeship. Whichever you choose though you will be closely supported by a Senior Consultant as you learn all about the recruitment industry and the beyond profit sector.

During your traineeship you’ll gain all the skills and experience you need to become a successful Recruitment Consultant.

Through a combination of on the job learning alongside a Senior Recruitment Consultant, and an external programme of online learning and assessment and individual coaching, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the business, the recruitment industry, and the beyond profit sector.

You will support the Senior Consultant and work alongside them undertaking a variety of tasks in the recruitment of professionals in the beyond profit sector. This will include:

  • Administrative duties and database management

  • Writing job adverts and responding to applications

  • Sourcing and interviewing candidates

  • Winning new business and managing client relationships

  • Representing Prospectus at events and client meetings

You don’t need any particular experience although time spent in a customer service or sales role previously will mean you already have some of the skills needed for the role. You will need to be able to work well both on your own and within a team and be good at managing your time. The role of a Recruitment Consultant can be fast paced and involve working on multiple projects at the same time so you’ll need to be able to think creatively and on your feet.

Mainly though you just enjoy learning! You’ll get to meet some amazing people and learn about some truly impactful organisations. You’ll also get to change lives as you support people along their careers. What could be better than that!
